Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter? Even a small kid in this world will know him. J.K.Rowling’s Harry Potter book has made a revolution in the Hollywood. This series had inspired everyone in each and every corner of this world.

The sixth part of the boy-wizard series – Harry Potter – is just about to hit the screens next to you and claims to be darker, and better than the previous – The Order of Phoenix sequel.
The Half-Blood Prince opens with a spectacular spectrum of neon lights blistering through the sky, as the death eaters devastates the London Bridge. Following which Dumbledore visits Harry and asks him to accompany him for a task.
The task is to convince Proff. Slughorn (played by Jim Broadbent) to take up classes in Hogwarts. The story moves on the last left plot declaring Harry to be the ‘Chosen One.’
The Potter series has come along way from the 2001, first release. The characters are no more kids and are no more novices to the wizardry world. Therefore, the approach towards the script handling has undergone a mammoth change from how Chris Columbus had directed the first two parts. David Yates, who directed the last Potter series – the Order of Phoenix, ensures that the story isn’t just darker, but more mature than the previous one.

The approach in the first few sequels was ‘not to alienate the reader’s base.’ However, David’s entirely different approach in the Order of Pheonix didn’t go too well with the audience in all. However, it is believed that the Half-blood Prince would make-up for the previous disappointment.

The story now rides on a bolder-darker plot, with the lead characters Harry, Ron and Hermione getting aware of their attractions and their urges getting more screen-space. The plot also includes Harry’s sudden sense of attraction for Ron’s sister – Ginny and
Hermione’s elevated attraction for the nerdy Ron to a full fledged crush. The story sure spills good news for those who have been waiting to see a good lip-locking scene involving Harry. There are plenty of moon-faced longing, inarticulate passion, and almost-kisses between Harry and his newfound love – Ginny. Ron finally ditches his self-doubt and Potter’s adventure to find out the real identity of the ‘half-blood prince.’ The movie weaves in the intricacies of relationships, matters of heart and hormones, and loads of dark magic, without bargaining with the core concept of friendship between the three prime characters.

Dumbledore enlists his favorite student to extract the secret long-buried history of an ex-Hogwarts’ student – Tom Riddle, which as you would have guessed, is Lord Voldemort. In the end, Harry is entrusted with the task of finding the Horcruxes (parts of Voldemort’s soul) and destroying it, as death parts his moon-spectacled teacher from him.

Tom Felton, plays his part well as the vengeance filled Malfoy, who is chosen by the ‘who-should-not-be-named’ to kill Harry Potter.  Ginny’s role, though patchy, is well donned by Bonnie Wright; while Hermione (Emma Watson) find it hard to make the ambivalent Ron (Rupert Grint) feel her emotions, as he is pretty busy wooing Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave).
Bruno Delbonnel, the new cinematographer on the board uses dark pallets to suit the storyline, careful enough to not to push it to the extreme. The sound by Nicholas Hooper adds gravity to the scenes and has the tint of the early John Williams scores, never giving the audience an unease that usually prevails with changing composer.
The scene, when a very important character passes away, has been beautifully cinematographed, acted and supported, undoubtedly well, by the scores.
In brevity, the Harry Potter Half-blood Prince is sure to rake in some moolah and remind the audience of the unmatched taste of the potter movies! But the question among people is – will the movie match the expectation of all? Or turn out to be a disappointment like the Order of Phoenix?
